And so it is, that we, like an evil empire of baked treats, we’re expanding our reach. Since last year’s Belfast CupcakeCamp went so swimmingly well, we’ve decided to come down South and bring our cupcakes with us. So hopefully with the help of the good people of Dublin, we’ll create something brilliant.

This is where you lot come in. We need a lot of help to get something as awesome as a CupcakeCamp running in your city. We need sponsors, a venue and suggestions for a charity to collect for. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your local cupcake bakery, tell strangers who probably won’t care!

This is going to be so very awesome Dublin, show us what you’ve got.

Our wonderfully wonderful amiga Sarah Landstreet will be hosting yet another of her wildly successful baking demos at Blick Studios. In fact, they’ve proved so successful that she’s going to be hosting two events so everybody has a chance to attend.

They’ll be taking place Thursday October 22nd (7-9pm) AND Tuesday October 27th, 2009 (7-9pm) – That is very awesome. Cost: £20.00 per adult or £15 concessions. – Fantastic value for money too, I can vouch for the enjoyment of the Marshmallow Grove demos. Get booking your tickets ASAP!! Was at Victoria Square today and who should be waiting on (late) taxi transport but the wonderful Sarah Landstreet, who can now be found with a stand in Victoria Square every Sunday (I think).

It would seem that I’d forgotten to mention who won the lovely prizes at CupcakeCamp this year.. So here we go!

    Best Decorated – Sarah Landstreet
Best Flavour – Leigh and Jo
    Best Overall – Sarah Smallwood

This year’s CupcakeCamp was truly special. I honestly didn’t think that we’d get half as much interest and enthusiasm as we did. Our bakers truly excelled themselves and decorated their tables beautifully and adorned them with the most amazing cupcakes.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped throughout the day; Barbs, Sarah, Aoife, Andy, Stuart, Jess, Niamh, Graham (especially his penknife), Jon, James and Ciara, everyone really helped out and made the whole event run smoothly.

Bean and Gone’s coffee was absolutely wonderful and it’s caffeine kick kept me going on at least three occasions. A great job done very professionally by Andrew and Jess who’s help, advice and kindness was greatly appreciated and I can’t fathom how I could begin to repay them.

The demos went wonderfully and many many kudos to Sarah, who’s demo couldn’t have had more hiccups but she forged on and wowed the crowd with her S’more cupcakes. Eavan’s intimate group were equally impressed with the intricate marzipan roses she made.

All in all, we had a wonderful time and I have to thank everyone who helped and supported me throughout the day. Thanks everyone! See you all at the next one. Here’s the walkthrough courtesy of Stuart.

A short one but a sweet one. Seamus McKee actually taught my dad at school so it was kind of weird being interviewed by him. Nonetheless, both very nice guys.

Introducing one of Belfast’s best known queens of cupcake (and one of our CupcakeHeroes). Sarah Landstreet, from London, Ontario, who now runs the Marshmallow Grove in Stranmillis. She’ll be demonstrating how to make S’mores cupcakes.  These little humdingers have a chocolate and Graham-cracker base, a warm and goopey middle layer of chocolate glaze, and are topped with fresh blow-torched marshmallow frosting – Cowabunga!!

Had to get up early this morning to do this one. This time I was with Fred MacAulay and Co talking about CupcakeCamp. I think we may have some of our first Scottish enthusiasts!

Our kind sponsors are not just providing the capital for CupcakeCamp, they’re going to be there brewing up fresh tea and coffee free, throughout the day, perfect for washing down those cupcakes. As well as the complimentary drinks, they’ll be selling bags of freshly roasted beans and if you want something different espresso drinks too.

Their coffee menu for the day is as follows:

Complimentary Coffee – Fresh Filter Pot of their amazing house coffee Old World Blend

And for espresso based drinks they are offering two new coffees:

Milk Drinks – Yemen Mokha Matrar

Espresso Shots – Nicaragua El Limoncillo

So don’t be afraid to go up and ask for a shot of espresso, you never know you might find you like it. And most importantly, thank them for making CupcakeCamp possible, we’d be nowhere without them.

You can find out more about them on their site beanandgone.com or on twitter @beanandgone

Recently we’ve been having a very very cool relationship with almost every aspect of the media. Much credit goes to Davy Sims and Bob Miller for that. We got a recent article featured on the BBC News website and since that everything has snowballed. As well as that I was interviewed today by Carolyn Stewart on her U105 programme Lunchtime Bistro. So here it is, thanks to James (@jtoal) for recording!
