Big announcement today in that we’re changing the date to ONE WEEK LATER ie:

**15th August 2009 @ Blick Studios, 51 Malone Road Belfast**

PS. Also I can answer one of your most pressing questions. Yes, they will have free wi-fi. And free coffee provided most kindly by Bean And Gone

From here on in hopefully there won’t be any more surprises. Not bad ones anyway.

CupcakeLibrary was a concept which was obscure to many but fairly well known to some, hosted by CupcakeCamp creator Ariel Waldman now it’s got its own home (and is longer than 12 seconds). So seeing as we kinda owe her for giving us the CupcakeCamp thing we thought it’d be nice to tell all of our followers about her latest project CupcakeLibrary.tv

It’s basically a short webcast where Ariel tackles all the big cupcake issues and the craze around cupcakes. (not just cupcake porn but those are there too).

    Definitely worth a look!

Okay, so in a new idea which I’ve just had, which is going to keep everyone involved and excited and hopefully inspire some to create amazing cupcakes to bring in August. We’re also going to be having guest contributors so if you’ve got a recipe you just *need* to share with everyone, send it here. Also, I love Red Velvet Cupcakes more than any other cupcakes in the world.

    Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 1/2 cup baking cocoa (powdered)
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 2 sticks butter at room temperature
    • 5 large eggs
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1 teaspoon red food coloring

    Instructions

Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl. Sift dry ingredients three times.

Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, making sure to beat well after each egg.

Add 1/4 of dry ingredients to creamed mixture then approximately 1/4 of buttermilk alternating until mixed well. Mix in vanilla and food coloring.

Fill lined cupcake pans 1/2 full of red velvet batter. Bake in a preheated 350 degrees Fahrenheit (170 degrees celsius) oven for approximately 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool completely on wire racks before frosting (frost with white chocolate or vanilla frosting).

    What is this anyway?

A post about the facts; dedicated to @rudedoodle

(this can now be found under ‘What is CupcakeCamp’)

    CupcakeCamp is:

    • A get together for those who like cupcakes
    • You can come along just to taste, or you can buy or bake your own cupcakes to share.
    • You eat and enjoy the atmosphere.
    • The event takes place over the course of an afternoon (at Blick Studios).
    • You can decide if you want to enter your cupcakes in the competition.
    • We hope to have free coffee etc. on the day.
  • April 1st, 2009CiaranInfo

This is probably fairly obvious but just to be clear (after much messing about with WordPress plugins and eventually messing about successfully with Google Docs) registration is now very easy. There’s the ‘Come Along’ and the ‘Bake’ tabs above, under which are the registration forms. Easy peasy!

Many thanks to those who’ve already registered and especially those bakers and volunteers!

As of today, we can *finally* announce the acquisition of a venue for CupcakeCamp. We also have a date for you all to pencil in to your diaries. Thanks to the kindness of Blick Studios in Belfast, we have a venue entirely for free to enjoy our cupcake day. There’s going to be a registration page for Bakers and Attendees soon, we’ll keep you posted!

The Where: Blick Shared Studios, 51 Malone Road, Belfast

    The When: 9th August 2009 , From 11.30AM to 5PM

For today’s meeting, Barbs and I went off to St. George’s market to go and talk to the people in the know about the Cupcake scene in Belfast and to see if we could convert that into some participants for the event come summer time. We met some pretty awesome people, and we’d like to big up The Marshmallow Grove, Wee Buns and Lavender Cupcakes who all seemed very enthusiastic about coming to CupcakeCamp.

However, most notably among those who we spoke to about CupcakeCamp (read: harassed) were the two inimitable Hairy Bikers: Si and Dave. Both of whom were really impressed by what we were doing and wished they could come too! We didn’t manage to get a photo with all of us in it together, but these are pretty awesome.

Tonight, myself and Barbs met for the first time. We had a fantastic meeting and got a great deal done, some interesting ideas and issues were discussed and we both have big aspirations for this project. We’ve set out some provisional framework for getting this right and we (quite rightly) think we’ve hit on the perfect formula.

Most importantly we got on really really well and now I definitely know that this is going to be good.

We’re going to be meeting up, anyone and everyone who wants to be involved in the CupcakeCamp project we’re undertaking here. So if you have particular views on icing and the like and desperately need to make sure we do things right, you can get involved!

We’ll be meeting at 6PM on Friday 6th of March in Starbucks in Castle Lane.

The more people who turn up the better. Comment here, or RSVP to @cupcakecampni on Twitter so Ciarán and Barbs know how many seats to try and save.

    See you there!

Tonight I’m going to Open Coffee to make everyone aware of all the things we’ve got planned and to definitely hear all the suggestions the best and brightest of the Twittersphere in Belfast come up with. So if you’ve come up with any suggestions or ideas or want to talk to me about getting involved in CupcakeCamp get yourself down to Charlie’s Coffee Shop in Bradbury Place at 6PM tonight. I’ll be the exhausted one who’ll probably still be in work clothes.

    See you all there!
